Huno

Також відомий як: Huno the Smith

Huno is the blacksmith of the Old Camp, stationed in the outer ring above the arena. His smithy occupies the space between the arena and a collapsed tower, overlooking the fighting pit directly below. The forge, anvil, and grindstone in his workshop represent the full complement of crafting tools available in the camp, and his services — selling weapons, teaching forging, and producing blades on commission — serve the needs of Diggers and Shadows throughout the outer ring.

Workshop and Teaching

Huno teaches the Nameless Hero the rudiments of weapon-forging, specifically the production of one-handed blades. Each lesson requires ore and learning points, consistent with every crafting skill in the original game. In Gothic (2001), asking Huno about blacksmithing equipment causes his steel supply to restock, a behaviour that makes him a reliable and repeatable source of raw material across multiple visits. A locked chest near the forge holds additional steel; players willing to invest in lockpicking — a skill taught by Fingers in a nearby hut — can access it for a significant quantity of forgeable material. The combination of Huno’s teaching and the restocking behaviour made his smithy one of the more mechanically productive locations in the outer ring for players pursuing the weapon-crafting route.

Whistler’s Commission

Huno is the craftsman Whistler hired to produce an ornamented sword at an agreed price of 150 ore, above the workshop’s standard rate, with a longer production window to account for the design’s elaborateness. Once complete, the sword passes into Fisk’s possession, where it remains due to the personal feud between Fisk and Whistler. Huno describes Whistler’s aesthetic sensibility as a preference for ornamental work over purely functional weapons. The Nameless Hero must act as a third-party buyer, approaching Fisk without naming Whistler and resolving a 10-ore shortfall across two trips, before the sword can reach its original commissioner.

Gothic 1 Remake

In the Gothic 1 Remake, Huno retains his position above the arena and his role as the outer ring’s primary blacksmith. The Remake titles the sword storyline Whistler’s Sword and incorporates it as a formal quest in the structured log. More significantly, the Remake expands the smithing system into a multi-tier skill tree accessible through Huno, building considerably on the original game’s more limited one-handed blade crafting. Players investing in the weapon-crafting branch gain access to a wider range of craftable items, giving Huno greater mechanical relevance across the mid-game than his 2001 counterpart enjoyed.

Camp Economy Role

Within the Old Camp’s informal economy, Huno converts the colony’s raw ore output into finished weapons, giving both Diggers and Shadows access to better armament without relying on Gomez’s inner ring suppliers. His smithy’s proximity to the arena directly below creates a natural circuit for camp residents: fighters seeking an edge can visit the forge before descending to the pit.
