Gods
Before the Colony, before the Barrier, there were the gods. The world of Gothic rests on a trinity: Innos, god of light, fire and justice, who orders the world; Beliar, god of darkness and destruction, who tears it down; and Adanos, god of water and balance, who holds the two in eternal equilibrium. The Nameless Hero is named in lore a chosen of Innos, and the demon Sleeper is a servant of Beliar — so the struggle beneath the Valley of Mines is, at heart, a war of gods fought by prisoners. This section explains the deities of the Gothic world, what each rules, and how their conflict drives the story.
